HOW PORTION CONTROL CHANGED MY LIFE

EVERYTHING IN MODERATION

 

Every day in my Virtual Gym, I speak to my girls about eating the foods you love in the right PORTIONS. It’s how I started my Mission MomBod journey at one week postpartum when I couldn’t workout, and it’s how I continued to lose 70 lbs and get in the best shape of my life. 
 
But I honestly think people either (a) have a preconceived notion about portion control and think you’re going to be left STARVING, because you’ve only eaten celery and lettuce all day or (b) that it means removing certain foods from your diet FOREVER! 

 

And that couldn’t be further from the truth. 
 
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a bajillion times… I lost 70 lbs while also having my wine, eating ice cream and enjoying pizza on a WEEKLY basis! So it’s not about deprivation, it’s about PORTION CONTROL.

 

 

MY FAVORITE PORTION CONTROL METHOD

 

So what do I use?  Something called PORTION FIX. It’s these fun color-coded containers that have simplified EVERYTHING for me!  I don’t count calories, I don’t count points…if it fits in the container, I can have it!

If you are like me, you don’t know how to eat just a handful of chips…if the bag is there, you devour it!

 

I have never in my life eaten just 2 Oreos… it’s the entire sleeve! And don’t get me started on a pint of ice-cream, there will NEVER be any left over. That’s not how I roll.

 

So that same mentality was brought into my relationship with healthy foods. Hummus is good for you, but NOT if you eat the entire tub. Peanut Butter is delicious and a healthy FAT, unless you are spooning it out of the jar with ZERO control. 

 

Learning HOW MUCH is an actual serving size, plus being told step-by-step what to eat and how much to eat and how many times to fill your containers each day made this a NO BRAINER for this new mama! 

 

 

Portion Control Changed My #MomLife

 

I was so blessed to be able to nurse my son through his first year of life, but if you are a nursing mama you KNOW the hunger that comes with it. I wanted to start my mission MomBod journey, I wanted to regain my strength and GET HEALTHY… But I also wanted to keep my milk supply strong.

 

So how did I lose 70lbs the healthy way WHILE NURSING? I used this darn portion system. It includes a CALORIE EQUATION that determines HOW MUCH you should eat. I determined my MAINTENANCE calories, and then went UP two brackets!

 

So I was eating in PLAN D initially, and no joke was eating 9 times a day! But I still lost the weight because I was eating HEALTHY FOODS, verses shoveling whatever I could find down my throat!

 

This was GAME CHANGING for me, and the principles and DISCIPLINE I learned during that first year postpartum, I still carry with me every single day! 
 

 

Get More Out Of Your Containers

 

You can totally get the PORTION FIX by itself, and solely focus on the food…but believe me I would be doing you a disservice if I didn’t say that I used Beachbody On Demand (BOD) in conjunction with the container system.

 

It’s a portal that's like NETFLIX for your workouts and gives you access to close to a 1,000 workouts that you can do from anywhere (including pre and post natal workouts).

 

BOD also includes something called the FIXATE Cooking show which provides hundreds of recipes and tutorials on how to make them. It’s AMAZING!

 

So even though I wasn’t using BOD for my workouts until I was 6 weeks postpartum, I still accessed it to help me navigate my meal prepping and planning.

 

And what’s AWESOME is that come March 2019 there is going to be a release of THE ULTIMATE PORTION FIX which is an entire academy focused on teaching us meal planning + nutrition, and I’m BEYOND excited to get my hands on that! 
 

 

THE WRAP UP

 

If I can share anything with you, if you take home ANYTHING today, it’s this…nutrition has gotta be your focus. You can workout all day, you can crush your workouts, BUT if you don’t break up with food and learn to eat the foods you love, and in the right portions, you will NOT see success. 

 

Will it be easy? No. But it can be simple. That is where this system comes into play. And you don’t have to be on your own, everyone in my Virtual Gym gets videos from ME on how I personally meal plan. 

 

They even get my personal meal planners + the ability to ask questions so you don’t feel like you are on this journey alone.
