THE TRUTH BEHIND... YOUR BIGGEST BUSINESS FAILURE
Hey #TogetherFit Fam!
I hope you’ve had a great start to the new year! Things have certainly been busy with me - especially with baby Camden on the way! But I’ll save the baby talk for another time… 👶🏻💙😍
As I’ve been chatting with my team and all the girls I mentor over the past couple of weeks, helping to develop their business and fitness goals, there has been a common discussion around something that can be very difficult to deal with: Failure.
But here’s something important you need to remember… All the successful people you meet in life, see on the news, read about in books, or watch on video - all of them have one thing in common: they’ve all experienced failure.
FAILURE IS THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS SUCCESS
I’ve failed PLENTY OF TIMES getting my business up and running the way it is now. Having to admit that is hard, but I feel it’s the only way I can help YOU learn through my mistakes. Sometimes the failure was a mistake or an accident on my end. Other times, I had a new idea or wanted to try something new out, but that ended up not working either.
It’s going to take you staying commitment, it’s going to take you putting a fortress around your focus, and driving towards your goal. But I’m here as proof that when you do that you will eventually find a solution that allows your goals to become your reality.
So as I tell the girls I mentor…plans may change, but that doesn’t mean that your GOALS change. When one plan doesn’t work out the right way, be BOLD, be COURAGEOUS and try something different!
YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE
Making a mistake doesn’t make YOU a failure. Notice what word is capitalized in that last sentence…YOU. When you misstep, when you have an obstacle present itself, when the perfectly crafted plan doesn’t go perfectly that doesn’t mean YOU are a failure. It’s easy to beat yourself up. It’s easy to allow fear and doubt creep in, making you wonder if your goals are even worth the fight.
So my hope today is that you realize mistakes, wrong turns and broken plans don’t make YOU a failure, the quicker you will be on your way to YOUR version of success. Because a failure doesn’t make YOU unworthy, it doesn’t make YOUR dream any less attainable. It only means the IN THAT MOMENT, whatever you just tried didn’t work. So your idea may have failed, but now it’s time to try something else!
EVEN SOME OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE FAIL
Bill Gates wasn’t expected to do anything significant with his life after dropping out of Harvard… then he went on to create a small computer company known as Microsoft!
Walt Disney was fired by a newspaper editor because, "he lacked imagination and had no good ideas.” I don’t know about you, but when I think about imagination, Disney is the FIRST brand that comes to mind!
Did you know that Oprah Winfrey was fired from her job as a television reporter because she was "unfit for tv.” Well, she went on to become the QUEEN of TV!
Also, did you know it took Thomas Edison 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb before he finally got just one to work the right way?!?!
Ok, one more… I’m sure you’ve used WD-40 for a squeaky door hinge or wheel before. Ever wondered WHY it’s named that in the first place? Well, it’s because the engineers went through 39 other formulas that DIDN’T FREAKIN’ WORK!
The point of all this is basically to say don’t ever give up! If you have a goal, you may experience setbacks and failures, and that’s ok. Just keep your eyes on the prize and get back to work!
3 TIPS TO DEALING WITH FAILURE
So how can you get better at handling failures? Start by remembering these three things:
1. Failure isn’t the opposite of success, it’s a part of success!
If you avoid failing, messing up, or doing anything wrong, then you are avoiding your version of success. So lose the fear of being wrong, and accept that those failures are simply lessons learned on how not to achieve your goal. Failures may delay you achieving your goal, but it does not defeat your dream.
2. Your greatest failure usually precedes your greatest success!
For this tip, I’m going to steer you back to one of my previous blog posts and videos about December 2010. During this time, I experience my greatest failures. I was at the point of completely giving up. BUT - I kept fighting and eventually experienced my greatest successes.

3. “I may struggle, but I’ll never quit.”
I want you to say this phrase right now. “I may struggle, but I’ll never quit.” Now, say it again, but even louder! LOUDER!
Ok, maybe not that loud! I don’t want you to scare your neighbors 😂
Seriously though, do whatever you need to do to make sure you remember this. I could go on and on about how I feel about this… but I believe YOU GET THE POINT! Don’t freakin’ give up! It’s that simple.
THE WRAP UP
I would love for you to post your biggest TAKE AWAY from this in the comments for me…I’ve been loving going back and reading those, they literally bring the biggest smile to my face.
And if you are feeling BOLD, share your failure to success story! Share with our #TogetherFit Family how you are also prove that failure has to be a part of your story, how overcoming failure has to be a part of your story… and using that mess to become your mess will be your calling.
Love you all,
